'Spirit of the marathon' film has local link, universal appealThese days, Melissa Leggett feels as if she's running the last leg of a marathon, getting so close to the 26.2-mile finish that she can almost see it. The Evansville native will cross her finish line the evening of Jan. 24, when "The Spirit of the Marathon," a full-length documentary about six runners' quests in the 2005 Chicago Marathon, premieres in theaters across the country. Leggett is associate producer for the $750,000 movie, directed by her boyfriend, Jon Dunham, a veteran marathoner who also served as co-producer and co-director of photography.
