Zags Name Pat Tyson Cross Country, Track Coach :: Becoms first fulltime coach in Gonzaga program

May 28, 2008 SPOKANE, Wash. - New head coach Pat Tyson doesn't think it will be too long before the Gonzaga University cross country and track and field programs will be off and running. Bulldog athletic director Mike Roth on Wednesday announced the hiring of the Spokane coaching legend to become the first fulltime cross country/track and field coach in the history of the program. "From the day this job was open I've had people calling me to endorse Pat for this position," Roth said. "He was obviously the people's choice and it didn't take long for him to become our choice. We're excited about the excitement we expect him to bring to the program. His reputation and record speak for itself." Tyson, who spent the just-completed spring season as head track and field coach at South Eugene, Ore., High, is also looking forward to the challenge.
