Lance Armstrong has decided to run his third marathon in Boston. Organizers of the Boston Marathon announced today that the seven-time Tour de France champion will make his debut during the 112th running of the race on April 21.

Armstrong qualified for the race with a time of two hours, 46 minutes, 43 seconds, at the 2007 ING New York City Marathon, finishing below the 3:15:00 standard for Armstrong's 35-39-year-old age group. Armstrong will run Boston to raise money for the Lance Armstrong Foundation, which supports research to cure cancer and care for cancer survivors.

Armstrong said after finishing the 2007 New York race that he was unsure about running another marathon. He did not run for a few months due to injury after completing his first marathon in 2:59:36 at New York in 2006. But at a post race press conference after the 2007 race, Armstrong hinted that he might again try the 26.2 distance.
